On September 4th, 2023, the IAB Center was graced by the presence of the renowned Architect, Madhavi Desai. She delivered a captivating talk on "Women Architects in India: Historical and Contemporary Challenges," which left us all inspired and enlightened.
Ar. Desai's discourse shed light on the historical and contemporary challenges faced by women architects in India. Her research unveiled the often-overlooked contributions of women architects to the rich tapestry of architectural history in South Asia. She beautifully contextualized the remarkable work of women architects within the broader challenge of limited archival resources.
In recognition of her outstanding Talk, IAB President, Dr. Khandaker Shabbir Ahmed, honored Ar. Desai with a crest as a heartfelt note of appreciation. During this event, Dr. Ahmed made an exciting announcement: the formation of a dedicated committee for Women Architects in Practice. This marks a significant step towards fostering inclusivity and empowering women in the field of architecture.
