News: A technical session with 'Academic Stake Holders' was held

A technical session with 'Academic Stake Holders' was held on 17th October on Kamlapur Multi-modal Transport Hub by the lead company Kajima Corporation under Japan- Bangladesh Joint PPP platform. President IAB was invited along with senior academics from various universities including BUET, JU, other professional bodies and stakeholder organizations. The presentation was done by the Project Team Leader Mr Aoki and the objective of the session was to receive guidance to confirm the basic assumptions for the Pre-masterplan of the MmTH project. President IAB clearly asserted along with other technical imperatives for such an urban design project, the existing station building needs to be preserved in the master plan and a replica of it elsewhere is not an option, if required structural strengthing can be done where Japan has significant experience. Other academic colleagues ephasized about preserving the heritage building, along with other socio economic issues in the design needs to be based on real data.
Later, a courtesy meeting was held with the senior leadership of Bangladesh Railway and discussions on matters of mutual interest were held.
